New Dress!

This is my new Tracy Reese dress and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Her stuff is just fabulous. This was $365, but I've already worn it twice and plan to wear it for New Year's Eve. I also think that if I switch up the belt, this will be a nice summer dress to wear to a wedding or something. The style is a little bit 50s, and when anything has a vintage look it's likely to not go out of style. THIS is a great example of how I should be shopping - a high quality spurge that pays for itself!

Last Week's Wardrobe!

I was taking the pictures...just had zero time to post due to work. All of these outfits seem a little blah in retrospect. And it's certainly nothing new. Am I failing at my challenge? Or are these just comfy work clothes.

Also - the horse dress is not that unflattering. Just the angle - never shoot up!

September Purchases

Pinky Otto Jumpsuit: $84
Two Express tops: $90
2 pair tights, one pair Jeggins: $77
2 tucker blouses, 2 tucker dresses: $60, and $80 respectively.

Total: $391

Breakthrough of the month - taking back the gorgeous Kate Spade heels that I truly could not afford and would really hardly wear. Sad, but that's $408 I can spend elsewhere.

PS - can't find a pic of the black express sweater, and figured the tights and jeggings (in grey) are self explanatory.

August Purchases - WAY Over Budget.

I actually have to put my purchases for last month into two posts since there are too many photos to support in one post. Eek! Maybe it's because I've been frugal for a month or so, or maybe it was the new fall fashion hitting the shelves, but I went a little nuts. the items in this post are from one trip to Anthropologie that totaled $1040!!!I love everyhting I bought though, except not 100% sure on the green dress yet.

Black Serpintina dress, $278
Hidden Valley Top, $58
Mullany Dress, $258
Habitual Talla Trousers, $198
Twinkle Twinkle Dress, $168

So far I've worn everything except the black cocktail dress (need a special occasion) and the pants (need to be able to wear heels again).

And this is only part of what I purchased. Oh the Shame!!!

Dancing Machine

Friday I went shopping with Kim at a little boutique on 9th Street called Pinky Otto. I found this adorable navy and white dot jumper that was 50% off and Kim convinced me to get it. I'm SO glad I did because i think it's adorable and it was perfect for going dancing that evening. No two pieces in the store were alike and they were all the Pinky Otto brand so I feel like I won't see this on anyone else. Plus it's a fashion risk for me, but I really loved it once I got it on.

Jumper: Pinky Otto, $89
Pink Heels: Michelle K, $150 - purchases SIX years ago!
Gold Crossbody Purse: Coach, $150

Unfortunately, those 5 inch pink heels were my downfall - literally. I fell and sprained my ankle and wasn't able to wear anything but pajamas and an ace bandage for the rest of the weekend so no new outfits til Tuesday,

Super Cute Suit

I love me a retro swimsuit. Saw this in the window of Old Hollywood at the Limelight Marketplace. Toooooo cute!

PS. Limelight is a new fave of mine. Interesting mini-boutiques, bars and cafes and it's in a gorgeous old church. If you're in New York - it's a must see, and shop!

A Splurge and A Steal

So, if I was loaded I'd totally buy the Thakoon dress for a whopping $2,700.

But I'm not, so what about this sexy/chic LaRok Jumper on sale for $229??

Both at Shopbop.

What do you think?

Speaking of Hats...

Eugenia Kim for Target is fantastic and cheap...but if you have a bigger budget or an event you need to look fabulous for, these hats are nothing short of AMAZING!

I feel good today!

I was going to be lazy dressing today - it was damp and overcast, I was late - but at the last minute I rallied and pulled together something that I thought was really New Yorky and cute!

The top is a black silk tunic that I usually wear over skinny jeans to go out, today I tucked it in to a Banana Republic slate blue skirt. Put on my grey structured heels and threw on a mixed metals necklace that I got at The Limited a year or so ago. Finished it off with a side braid. I rarely try anything with my hair but today it was too humid not to put it up and the outfit felt like it called for something more than a ponytail.

BR Skirt, $59
Kimichi Blue Silk Tunic, $80
Limited Necklace, $30
Nine West Shoes, $120
Kate Spade Purse, $450

What do you think?

If I had a nickel...

For every time I've seen the Black Halo "Jackie" dress on celebs in rags and on TV shows I would not need to do this blog. I just saw it on Jane Krakowski in last week's 30 Rock in turquoise and it was not doing her any favors.

Come on celebrity stylists...get back to work!

Four years old and a FIRST TIME WEAR!

Wow - I cannot believe I'm finally wearing this dress. I bought this dress about 4 years ago. it was one of the earlier Target Designer collaborations - with Proenza Schuler. It was priced at $39, I think, but I remember paying close to $100 on Ebay because I really wanted it. Then it sat in my closet for 4 years. super smart huh? The colors are a little wild but I like the navy piping - it seems to anchor it a bit. Paired it with my Tory Burch Wedges ($288 ) and called it a day.

What do you think?? Should it go in the donation pile, or become a summer staple??

PS - headed to Florida for a beachy weekend on Thursday - this may be a must pack.

THE White Dress!

This is the white dress that inspired the search in the first place. It's Shoshanna, and it's $305 at Bloomingdale's. They only had a 2 and a 4 left, so I ordered the 4 hoping it will fit. The one thing that shopping has taught me, is that the size on the tag means next to nothing. My closet ranges from sizes 4-10 and they all fit. The Kate Spade dress I bought, was I believe, a 4, but i tried it on and it worked. So, fingers crossed!!

Kim Strikes Again

Looking fabulous as always in a the springiest little number I've seen in a long time. I think the zip front detail keeps it from being too precious. By Thakoon.
