Kim rocks a rosary.

This outfit is just perfect for summer - easy and polished at the same time. The rosary adds an edge to an otherwise preppy look. As do the numerous tattoos. : )

Looking fab as always Kim!

Tried to do a High-Low

Basically the High Low is taking a super basic piece of clothing - in this case the low priced Grey Tee (Gap, $25) and mix it with higher cost pieces - linen skirt and jewelry, colorful shoes.

I like it - I think it works. But I'm actually not wearing anything technically "High"

Skirt (Banana Republic, $35 on sale.)
Heels (Seychelles, $95)
Lovely stone necklace that was a gift...
Cartier Roadster watch - ok - that's high.

What do you think? Have you ever tried a High-Low look?

Birthday Sizzle

Who doesn't like to dress up on their birthday? There's no better excuse for wearing a pretty dress.

I'm in a one-shoulder number from The Limited ($90) and Calvin Klein Snakeskin heels ($150).

Kim is in a lovely Phillip Lim Dress and Louis Vuitton shoes she got for her birthday.

Kim Strikes Again

Looking fabulous as always in a the springiest little number I've seen in a long time. I think the zip front detail keeps it from being too precious. By Thakoon.

Summer

This store has a ton of little dresses that scream summer. This seersucker number with embroidered airplanes is adorable and only $168!

WOW - This is great.

In my efforts to spend less and appreciate my clothes more, I stumbled across this woman. Fascinating video and I will buy the book. I don't want to be owned by my stuff. Who would?

New Designer : Sretsis

New to me anyway. I'd never heard of Sretsis and their site seems to be defunct, but when you google them you get a lot of hits of celebs wearing this designer. Kim also has an owl print dress she posted on the Closet Case FB page that I just love. This dress had to make the blog because, well, I love a llama.

You can buy the line at a few online retailers and small boutiques. I must find out more about them. The pieces are really different to me. Worth looking at for a single standout piece to funk up your wardrobe.

Shop here, here, or here.

Look out for busses Kim

Since Kim and I are about the same size and wear the same size shoes I may have to push her in front of a bus just to get her wardrobe. Kim, consider yourself warned.

Robert Rodriguez dress and Prada peep toe mary janes.

Check out this video and see why I dream in Prada.

Sad news....

Visionary British Designer, Alexander McQueen died yesterday at just 40 years old. His work was really edgy and inspiring. He'll be missed.

If you'd like one of his pieces...here's a great source for sale items.
Or
You can always get the classic McQueen skull scarf online at Bergdorf Goodman's.

Everything works here.

My friend Kim just has a knack for pulling stuff together. Today she rocked a Jovovich/Hawk dress with a wide gold leather and paillette belt and a chunky gold necklace. The casual boots (Chanel) and braids keep it from being too serious. A+ chica!

Side note - Kim told me that this dress was around $600 but Jovovich/Hawk ended up making a nearly identical one for Target at about 1/8 the price. Those Target designer pieces are worth checking out. And it's a good idea to look up some of the designer's full-price pieces before you shop their Target collection so you can grab the stuff that really relays that designer's style.

Jovovich/Hawk is out of business but you can great pieces on sale at various shopping sites.

Target doesn't have a designer collection at the moment, but I'm sure they will soon! I'll post when they do.

Amazing Jacket

- Fashion from my iPhone

Pre-Gaga Kim and I hung out at her sister's house where I discovered this AMAZING jacket hanging up.

Turns out Keri Shunk is a fashion designer. I think she has a bright future because this jacket is gorge! Total one-of-a-kind piece that I would have stolen if the Shunk Sisters hadn't outnumberd me 3 to 1. My karate is a little rusty anyhow. Darn it.

This is my friend KIm in her Alice + Olivia Mirror Dress. It's listed on the internets at $695, but I don't think you can actually find this dress anymore. She got it two years ago at Scoop NYC and has worn it many times so I think it was probably well worth it. It has a bit of a vintage feel to it and the cut is basic so I can't see it going out of style. Plus it's so fun!

Imagine

This dress is for display only, not to wear, but it's still gorgeous. I want a feather dress! I'd wear it all the time. Really, I would.

This Is What I'm Talking About!

This morning getting dressed was a little agonizing. I wanted to wear something I've never worn so I picked an Old Navy olive cord mini ($24). I thought about just doing black sweater/black tights, but I mixed it up a little with a Trina Turk Blouse ($198) that I LOVE, but somehow never wear. It resulted in the outfit you see here - not too bad. Only took me 30 minutes of digging through my closet to pick it out.

When I get to work I see my friend Kim. She is wearing a spectacular dress with a cardigan and tights. I love it. And I KNOW for a fact no one else in the building is wearing anything similar. So she is owning her look today and I am jealous. So I quiz her - it's a Philip Lim dress and was about $500. This is a lot as far as I'm concerned until I realize I've been spending around 3 x that on clothes a month and don't have anything that spectacular in my closet. I could buy this dress, and still have plenty left over for shopping (or saving). Kim seems to know what I'm trying to figure out.

I'm making a note to stop by Philip Lim in SOHO tomorrow night on my way home from yoga. Can't hurt to look.

UPDATE: Dress turns out to be $675. EEK! Not sure I could go there.
