I am a closet case.
A terrible shopper who spent $15,000 last year on clothes that are just short of boring. I'm over it.
I'm starting this blog to re-learn how to shop. I want to spend way less money on way better clothes. Establish my own style. Kick my junkie-like addiction to Banana Republic basics.
I think there are a lot of women out there like me, who might enjoy reading this and get something out of it. The rest of you...feel free to point and laugh.

New Dress!

Kate Spade I love you!

Just had to stop by and spend my 10% off coupon today and picked up the lovely bird blouse. I've had my eye on the jacket as well, but it's quite pricey. Part of me feels I should go for it - thanks to Chanel tweed jackets never go out of style! - but the other part of me still can't get over the price.

Pants!!! I love them!
The fact that i even bought them was pretty out of character. I pulled them off the rack at the last minute and figured I try them on at home. Normally I wouldn't even look at pants like these for fear they'd make my butt look too big. But they don't, so I'm chalking this experience up to Risk = Reward.
Since they are a new shape for me, I'm looking forward to creating different looks for them. Yay!
Blouse: Banana Republic, $60 a few years ago.
Trousers: Talla by Habitual, $198
Shoes: Sally Wedges by Tory Burch, $268
What do you think of the pants? Any Suggestions on how to style them?

A Girl Can Dream...
Friday, September 3, 2010
Long weekend starts here.
What makes this military? Basically the color scheme, the avatiors and the fit. Military looks best when it's not loose and flowy. What you want to look like is maybe you just helicoptered into some kind of foreign crisis but with a touch of glam. I think this would have been a LOT better if the pants had been more of that military green. These kinda verge on brown. Still works but not as good. I'm on the hunt for a good pair of army green pants. I think this fall they'll be a key piece.
Aviators: NYC Street vendor, $5
Sequin Tank: Express, $40
Chinos: Banana Republic, $60
Flops, Havanias, $24
Crossbody bag: Hobo Int., $118

Tried to do a High-Low
I like it - I think it works. But I'm actually not wearing anything technically "High"
Skirt (Banana Republic, $35 on sale.)
Heels (Seychelles, $95)
Lovely stone necklace that was a gift...
Cartier Roadster watch - ok - that's high.
What do you think? Have you ever tried a High-Low look?

Speaking of Hats...

Eugenia Kim for Target is fantastic and cheap...but if you have a bigger budget or an event you need to look fabulous for, these hats are nothing short of AMAZING!

Thanks to my dear Kim, who showed me this site in the first place.

Saddle shoes are big for spring

I can't pull these off since I wear a size 10 and white turns my feet into skis, but if you have a daintier foot I can't think of a better shoe. Cute and effortless with a dress (sans socks) and will dress up the Jeans trend too. Only $125 at Cole Haan, so they'll be comfy too.
In honor of the pouring mess outside...

Weekend Looks
Two looks for Saturday. The day look I thought was cute and fun for running around SOHO. I took the photo with my coat on since that's how I'd be looking. Still too cool to take the jacket off.
Black Cords (BR, $80)
Turquoise Silk Tunic (Kimichi Blue, $60)
Black Ballet Flats (Cole Haan, $138)
Grey Twill Pea Coat (Victoria's Secret, $60)
Black Leather Bag (Kate Spade, $455)
For a party that evening, I had planned to wear a dress. As I was getting ready, I was stressed about running late and in the middle of drying my hair I thought, "fu*k it, I'm going to scrunch it up wet and let it go". It felt a little Debbie Harry so I totally flipped my look and ended up getting a TON of compliments at the party.
Black Silk Tunic (Silence + Noise, $80)
Skinny Jeans (BR, $80)
Gold Necklace (BR, $60)
Teal Suede Platforms (Seychelles, $95)
I was really pleased with this look. The hair is what gave it the attitude, but I think the whole thing worked. I will def do this again.

Project Runway

Amy's design was my favorite this week. It was so pretty, even though the burlap material started out hideous. It looked soft and edgy at the same time. The judges did not pick this as the winner, but they can't always be right, can they?
PS - Heidi Klum is perfection, as Chandler would say.
Amazing Jacket

- Fashion from my iPhone
Pre-Gaga Kim and I hung out at her sister's house where I discovered this AMAZING jacket hanging up.
Turns out Keri Shunk is a fashion designer. I think she has a bright future because this jacket is gorge! Total one-of-a-kind piece that I would have stolen if the Shunk Sisters hadn't outnumberd me 3 to 1. My karate is a little rusty anyhow. Darn it.

This is my friend KIm in her Alice + Olivia Mirror Dress. It's listed on the internets at $695, but I don't think you can actually find this dress anymore. She got it two years ago at Scoop NYC and has worn it many times so I think it was probably well worth it. It has a bit of a vintage feel to it and the cut is basic so I can't see it going out of style. Plus it's so fun!
