Rocking the Bird Shirt!

So this is my first wear of the Kate Spade bird shirt. Since it's 80 below zero out I layered it with a brown turtleneck, but maybe that looks a little frumpy? I'm going to try it next tucked into a patterned skirt with navy as the main color to do that whole "mixed prints" look. Wish me luck!

Jeans...Love 'em and hate 'em.

Going through my closet this week I decided to take a look at my jeans situation. I feel like I only wear three pairs and can't really fit into the rest, but on further examination, I found that that isn't really true.

The first photo is the array of jeans I have that I can fit into. Two pairs of Hudsons, a pair of skinny Sevens, a pair of Joe's, two Banana Republic skinnys, on pair of gap boyfriend jeans, one pair of American apparel skinnys in black, and a slouchy pair of Citizen's of Humanity that feel like pajamas.

The second photo is the jeans I don't fit in. A worn in pair of Seven's I love, A pair of Banana Republic skinnys in the next smallest size down, That pair of Paige Premium's that still haunt me, a pair of Lucky's that look great when I can put them on, and I added in the Banana Republic navy chinos I bought too tight in the hopes of losing a few lbs.

I wonder what would happen if I could actually lose the inches it would take to get into the photo two jeans. Something to ponder as I make my New Year's resolutions perhaps. i can't seem to let go of these jeans though so they're not going into the donate pile.

In the meantime - I'm not buying anymore jeans for a while. It's no fun trying tthem on anyway.

Saturday Night Cozy.

I went out to my favorite place Saturday (Esperanto!) and was wanting a cozy casual look. After all it's a little cold out and I walked there. This fit the bill for me, but the photo is not flattering at all. The angle is a little high, so I look a LOT wider than I did in person - at least I hope so.

This outfit contains three of my October purchases which I realized I hadn't worn yet.

Wednesday Dinner

I took these photos before heading out for dinner - so they're not the greatest. I did one with flash and one without so you get the idea. This is my first wearing of my blanket sweater from Express. They are supposed to be a top trend this Fall/Winter and I love anything big and cozy so I'm pretty happy. And the navy sequined tank dressed it up for night. It was a great purchase - it gets tons of wear. And, if you haven't noticed, I'm already back to my fall winter staple: skinny jeans and boots. Hopefully this season I'll learn to mix it up.

Military Monday

I swear these pants are so not me but I just love them. Today I pared them with a new silk top I got from Express in the style du jour: military. I'm really happy with it. Feels simple and sophisticated and on trend. And my inner voice is not chirping that the pants make me look fat. I can't really explain my love for these pants. They may not even be flattering, but I'm blinded! I think the gold accessories are essential to this look so I went bigger on those.

It's official - fall is officially here. I realized this when I pulled out my skinny jeans this morning. Going through old posts I admit I wore them way too much last winter. I'm going to have to get creative this year. Hopefully we'll have a bit of an indian summer so I won't be forced into them this soon!

Pretty standard outfit today. I was really missing the eggplant wedges that Paddy ate a few months ago. They were so versatile and will be hard to replace. Boo, chewy puppies!

August Purchases - WAY Over Budget.

I actually have to put my purchases for last month into two posts since there are too many photos to support in one post. Eek! Maybe it's because I've been frugal for a month or so, or maybe it was the new fall fashion hitting the shelves, but I went a little nuts. the items in this post are from one trip to Anthropologie that totaled $1040!!!I love everyhting I bought though, except not 100% sure on the green dress yet.

Monday - Evening for Day.

Took Saturday's top and tried to re-do it for day. Added a gold belt and went with brown shoes. Also tried a different shape of jean. These bootcut seem to balance the top better, but I think the top is pretty blousy, so it's always going to me look a little fuller. I still love it though, and people do compliment it so I'm glad I bought it.

Today was a rainy ass day

Feels like Fall Today.

With grey skies and a high of only 69, I pulled out the jeans today. Simple outfit, but flattering and cute in my opinion. My favorite part is the gold necklace I got at Banana Republic. They really rock it on the costume jewelry,

Sunday Travels

Flying today and want to be comfy but still presentable. I don't know who gave women the green-light to wear velour tracksuits on planes, but if I wanted to see you in your pajamas I'd break into your house while you were sleeping. Put on some clothes people!

This outfit has lots of layers and involves a looser pair of jeans and slip off shoes for comfort and ease. I'm hoping I look slightly put together though. It is a business trip after all.

Note on the luggage - it's Rimowa, and it rocks. If you travel alot for work, like I do, I highly recommend it. Doesn't hurt that the color is "Prosecco". That's a company that gets me.

Rainy Monday

Getting hot and humid here in NYC so this was probably not the best outfit, but I was (say it with me) RUNNING LATE! It was along weekend and there was not much time for prep the night before but I feel like I did ok. At least looks somewhat put together!

It's still cold - WTF Spring?

It's the end of April and yet it's cloudy out with gusty wind and a high of 56. Not cool, Mother Nature. Not cool. So today is about warmth and comfort, which does not always equal fashionable. Back from a long hiatus are the BR skinny jeans ($89). Paired it with a BR brown tee($35) and an army green jackety-thingy that I gout at a little boutique somewhere for just $60. I've worn it a ton of times, just always seems to come in handy. Boots are Nine West and were $100 I think.

Two more days until I get my new shopping budget. Blew April's in the first week so I haven't been shopping at all!! Proud of my restraint but ready to get a few new pieces. Any suggestions on what I should buy for summer? I NEED a pair of black work appropriate shoes, so those are a must buy. But other than that I plan to have fun!

All Black for New York

Now that I am no longer choosing an outfit based on what smells least like sweat and llama, I thought I'd have an all black New Yorker day to show my city how much I missed it! The answer is A LOT!

A note on the jeans - these are cheap and they rock. The waist is hilariously high so you can't tuck in, but there's no chance of muffin top and they are comfy as hell. They also come in a huge array of colors and are cheap enough that you can be bold and try a hot pink or something!

Back from Vacation!

After hiking for 7 hours in the Andes for four days in a row, I fit in my Paige Denim jeans a little better so I thought I'd try them again today. I wanted to wear a pretty dress and heels after a week of looking like a crunchy granola girl, but the weather did not cooperate. Maybe Friday.

After getting home at 1am last night, I couldn't put to much effort in to today's outfit so I went with some standards that I think look good. Let me know what you think!

Hey, not bad!

After yesterday's ho-hum chino disaster I was determined to find a "new" outfit in my closet. It was cold and I hadn't worn my suede boots in a bit so I started there. So over jeans so I grabbed the denim skirt and navy tights. Then, rustled through my closet half-dressed for about 15 minutes. Finally I grabbed a fitted brown t-shirt and my lavender cozy and a belt I've never worn. I really did figure it out as I went. especially the cozy. Not as easy to maneuver as the DKNY site makes it look.

In the end though, I actually like this outfit. I think it looks casual but somewhat citified.

Would love to hear your thoughts as this was a true fashion experiment!

My version of the Texas Tuxedo

Had the hardest time picking an outfit this morning, and this is where I ended up. It's as close to the head-to-toe denim look as this cowgirl is going to get. I'm still trying to put together new clothing combos from my existing wardrobe and, while I'm not sure I've ever worn this before, I know it's not that adventurous.

On another note, Heard on the Today Show that a hot trend for 2010 is "head-to-toe denim". I, for one, will not ever be rocking the Texas Tuxedo no matter who says it's okay to do so. Last year they told me acid wash denim was back in and I didn't fall for that one either. Try again, fashion industry!
