So this is my first wear of the Kate Spade bird shirt. Since it's 80 below zero out I layered it with a brown turtleneck, but maybe that looks a little frumpy? I'm going to try it next tucked into a patterned skirt with navy as the main color to do that whole "mixed prints" look. Wish me luck!
Going through my closet this week I decided to take a look at my jeans situation. I feel like I only wear three pairs and can't really fit into the rest, but on further examination, I found that that isn't really true.
After a super long (and much needed) vacation in Bali, I'm back to NYC and my blog. It was odd getting dressed today. For the last 10 days I've worn a cotton dress or romper, flip flops, no make up and a ponytail. Now I'm in 45 degree weather instead of 85 and I had to get dressed...in layers. As I posted this photo today I realized the outfit is almost identical to the last one I posted. We are creatures of habit aren't we? 
The weather is holding in the 60s so I threw on a basic outfit this morning that I knew would be cozy. I'm a little under the weather today so couldn't bother getting too fancy. Maybe tomorrow I'll be feeling better. This isn't so bad though. And I got a compliment on the blanket sweater.
I took these photos before heading out for dinner - so they're not the greatest. I did one with flash and one without so you get the idea. This is my first wearing of my blanket sweater from Express. They are supposed to be a top trend this Fall/Winter and I love anything big and cozy so I'm pretty happy. And the navy sequined tank dressed it up for night. It was a great purchase - it gets tons of wear. And, if you haven't noticed, I'm already back to my fall winter staple: skinny jeans and boots. Hopefully this season I'll learn to mix it up.
It's official - fall is officially here. I realized this when I pulled out my skinny jeans this morning. Going through old posts I admit I wore them way too much last winter. I'm going to have to get creative this year. Hopefully we'll have a bit of an indian summer so I won't be forced into them this soon! 
With grey skies and a high of only 69, I pulled out the jeans today. Simple outfit, but flattering and cute in my opinion. My favorite part is the gold necklace I got at Banana Republic. They really rock it on the costume jewelry,
Last Friday, on my way home from work, I stopped at Anthropologie and shopped without regard to anything! I have to say - after months of restraint it felt pretty good. I'm very happy with all of the pieces I got, and this top is one of them. I wore this out Saturday night and felt pretty good if I do say so myself. I will say though, upon seeing this photo, that the skinny jeans may not have been the best way to go. Boot cut might have made a better (and by better I mean less like I have a giant ass) silhouette. Still - love the color, love the cut and happy I bought it.
This morning I had a little time to get ready (it's amazing what getting up on time can do for your morning) so I decided to shop my closet a little. I'm not sure I LOVE what I came up with but I think it's kinda cute and at least I'm trying new things, and hopefully learning.
Everything I'm wearing today exists in my closet, but I tried to create something new. Mainly this involved rolling up my skinny jeans and layering a tank over a tee, but hey...I tried. Kim actually asked me who made my skinny jeans and she takes the picture for this blog all the time so it must look a little new!! 
Getting hot and humid here in NYC so this was probably not the best outfit, but I was (say it with me) RUNNING LATE! It was along weekend and there was not much time for prep the night before but I feel like I did ok. At least looks somewhat put together!
It's the end of April and yet it's cloudy out with gusty wind and a high of 56. Not cool, Mother Nature. Not cool. So today is about warmth and comfort, which does not always equal fashionable. Back from a long hiatus are the BR skinny jeans ($89). Paired it with a BR brown tee($35) and an army green jackety-thingy that I gout at a little boutique somewhere for just $60. I've worn it a ton of times, just always seems to come in handy. Boots are Nine West and were $100 I think.
Now that I am no longer choosing an outfit based on what smells least like sweat and llama, I thought I'd have an all black New Yorker day to show my city how much I missed it! The answer is A LOT!
I guess this really is my go to look. Ugh. Need to get more creative.
In honor of my friend Theresa, who asked me a week or so ago about mixing patterns, I decided to do that today. The vest and blouse are in the same color scheme but totally different patters and it worked pretty well. I actually got a couple of compliments on the pattern mixing. Not expecting people to notice.
Today began with my dog's breakfast exploding in my microwave. Needless to say, it was not a great start and took some time to clean up so I didn't really want to spend a ton of time picking out an outfit. Lucky for me, I bought something yesterday so I didn't have to!
This was my Saturday outfit when it was 16 degrees out. I ended up at the Natural History Museum (hence the bear) trying to soak up some culture in lieu of sunshine. It was just me, and EVERY child in Manhattan, so I was beginning to wish my boots had both steel toes and spurs at one point so I could clear a few feet around me, if only to breathe.
